Our Goals

We are a group of fourth-year Biology students at Queen's University currently taking the BIOL 422 Conservation seminar. Our seminar project aims to help protect the endangered turtle populations in the Eastern Ontario region that have been put at increased risk due to recent poaching events and biodiversity loss. By raising money through our fundraising initiative, we plan to purchase surveillance and nest site monitoring equipment that is to be donated to Turtle Guardians in Haliburton to help them in their conservation efforts this coming nesting season. The equipment purchased will help monitor and protect nest sites to altogether save our turtles.  As well, our outreach plan will work to raise awareness in the Queen's community about the threat of turtle egg poaching and the impacts it can have on our local biodiversity. Through these initiatives, we aim to prevent further poaching events in Eastern Ontario and protect our local turtles from rapid population declines.

Thank you for helping us on this adventure!
